Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that combines mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. It is part of the STEM Engineering CTE program at AHS, which is offered in conjunction with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Knoxville. Students not only earn dual enrollment credit in mechatronics but also have the opportunity to obtain industry certifications and dual credit. Students who are enrolled in mechatronics courses are preparing for a possible future in robotics, computer science, and many other technology and manufacturing career opportunities. 
 
SkillsUSA is a national organization that promotes personal, workplace, and technical skills grounded in academics so students are prepared to fill readily available highly skilled jobs.
